Barbara has been cooking since she was tall enough to reach the stove. She began entering state fair contests and has developed her favorite pastime into a career. She loves creating special dishes and sharing them with family and friends.
A cookbook author and culinary instructor, she has collected over 700 prize-winning awards and ribbons from various local and state fair competitions. She is also an inaugural member of Kraft Foods Sure Jell Hall of Fame, Class of 1997. In addition to teaching over 600 cooking classes at The Maytag Store and Williams-Sonoma, she has served as a guest lecturer at Carson Newman College, has appeared on several local TV shows and is a judge for the TVA Fair.
